We provide all the technical gear you’ll need, including helmets, harnesses, rappel devices, gloves, and professional-grade rope systems. You’ll also be guided by experienced, certified instructors who know Moab’s terrain inside and out. Transportation to and from the canyon is available upon request.
You’ll need to bring your own food and snacks to keep your energy up throughout the day, as well as at least 3 liters of water per person. We recommend packing more if the weather is hot.

3 liters of water per person

Snacks or lunch (depending on trip length)

A long-sleeve, quick-drying shirt for warmth after swims

Extra dry clothes (weather dependent)

Sun protection: brimmed hat, sunglasses, SPF sunscreen, and lip balm

Waterproof camera or phone (optional but encouraged)

Wear lightweight, breathable, and quick-drying clothing suitable for outdoor movement. Avoid cotton, jeans, and heavy sweatshirts. Choose shoes with soft, flexible soles—like trail runners or lightweight hiking shoes—that can get wet and handle rugged terrain. Dress in layers appropriate for the season.

Nope! Many of our routes are beginner-friendly and require no prior rope or canyoneering experience. We’ll guide you through every rappel, scramble, and obstacle with step-by-step instruction.
Safety is our top priority. Our guides are AMGA-certified, well-trained, and experienced in both technical rope systems and group dynamics. Every trip is private, so we tailor the pace and difficulty to your group’s comfort level.
We welcome adventurous kids! Most trips require a minimum age of 8–12 depending on the canyon. All children must be mature enough to follow safety instructions and weigh at least 50 lbs for harness fit and rappel safety.
Moab canyoneering is available year-round, but spring and fall offer the most comfortable weather. Summer trips can be hot and may include early starts to beat the heat. Some canyons have seasonal closures due to wildlife protection—ask us for current availability.

Cancellations & Refunds

What is your cancellation policy for guided trips?

Your reservation holds a spot specifically for you, and often prevents others from booking. Because of this, the following applies to all guided trips (excluding courses and clinics):

For groups of fewer than 10 people:

  • 14+ days notice: Full refund, including deposit
  • 3–13 days notice: Full refund minus a $20 per person deposit
  • Less than 72 hours notice: No refund
  • No-shows or incorrect bookings: Full trip cost will be charged. If rescheduling is possible, a $40 fee will apply to compensate the original guide.

For groups of 10 or more:

  • A 10% deposit is required at booking and is non-refundable unless Magnum cancels due to weather or logistics.
  • The remaining balance is due 48 hours before the trip.

We operate on a tight schedule to provide the best experience for all guests.

  • If you arrive more than 30 minutes late without prior notice, your trip may be canceled without refund.
  • If we are scheduled to pick you up and you’re not at the meeting location within 30 minutes, the trip may also be canceled without refund.

If the sandstone is wet from recent rain, climbing trips will be canceled, while canyoneering trips may still proceed, depending on conditions. Final decisions are made by our guides based on current conditions and weather.

  • If we cancel due to unsafe weather (e.g. flooding or wet rock), you will receive a full refund.
  • If your trip begins but must end early due to worsening conditions, we will offer a fair partial refund.
  • If conditions allow the trip to proceed and you choose not to join, our regular cancellation policy applies.

Please bring appropriate clothing. Weather can shift quickly in canyon country, and many days improve after a slow start.

Yes, we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your booking in case of unexpected changes, weather, or last-minute cancellations.
